PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL, THE ARCHANGEL
Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle, be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray: and you, O Prince of the Heavenly Hosts, by the Power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL, THE ARCHANGEL, AND THE HEAVENLY HOST
St. Michael, the Archangel, in union with all the Holy Angels, in the Name of Jesus and Mary, and for the glory of God, we pray that through your prayers we may receive the gift of continuous prayer, repentance and evangelization.
With your intercession, may God open our hearts and minds so that we may be sensitive to the voice of our Lord, and be attentive to the needs of our brothers and sisters.
Through your intercession, may we also receive the gift of perseverance in the service of our Lord, and in the service of our needy brothers and sisters.
Help us each day to stay away from sin and to grow in holiness.
Thanks to the Almighty God, to the Virgin Mary, to you, St. Michael, the Archangel, and to all the Holy Angels. Amen.
PRAYER TO ST. GABRIEL
FOR INTERCESSION
FOR INTERCESSION
O Blessed Archangel Gabriel, we beseech you, intercede for us at the throne of mercy in our present necessities, that as you announced to Mary the mystery of the Incarnation, so through your prayers and patronage in heaven we may obtain the benefits we seek and sing the praise of God forever in the land of the living. Amen.
PRAYER TO ST. RAPHAEL
FOR HEALING
FOR HEALING
Saint Raphael, who stand before the throne of Him who lives and reigns. Angel of health! The Lord has filled your hand with balm from heaven to soothe or cure our pains. Heal or cure the victim of disease that I pray for now, and guide our steps in prayer, and when doubtful of our ways! Amen.
about:
- The liturgy celebrates the feast of these three archangels who are venerated in the tradition of the Church.
- An archangel /ˌɑrkˈeɪndʒəl/ is an angel of high rank. Beings similar to archangels are found in a number of religious traditions; but the word "archangel" itself is usually associated with the Abrahamic religions.
- The word archangel is derived from the Greek ἀρχάγγελος (arch- + angel, literally chief angel)
- The Fourth Book of Esdras, which mentions the angel Uriel, was popular in the West and was frequently quoted by Church Fathers, especially Ambrose, but was never considered part of the Catholic biblical canon.
- The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us that, "[T]he existence of the spiritual, non-corporeal beings that Sacred Scripture usually calls "angels" is a truth of faith. The witness of Scripture is as clear as the unanimity of Tradition."
Angels are pure, created spirits. The name angel means servant or messenger of God. Angels are celestial or heavenly beings, on a higher order than human beings. Angels have no bodies and do not depend on matter for their existence or activity. They are distinct from saints, which men can become. Angels have intellect and will, and are immortal. They are a vast multitude, but each is an individual person.
Archangels are one of the nine choirs of angels listed in the Bible. In ascending order, the choirs or classes are
1) Angels,
2) Archangels,
3) Principalities,
4) Powers,
5) Virtues,
6) Dominations,
7) Thrones,
8) Cherubim, and
9) Seraphim.
St. MICHAEL (Who is like God?)
--- was the archangel who fought against Satan and all his evil angels, defending all the friends of God. He is the protector of all humanity from the snares of the devil. His name appears in Scripture four times, twice in the Book of Daniel, and once each in the Epistle of St. Jude and the Book of Revelation.
--- This day is referred to as "Michaelmas" in many countries and is also one of the harvest feast days. In some parts of Europe, especially Germany, Denmark, and Austria, a special wine called "Saint Michael's Love" (Michelsminne) is drunk on this day. The foods for this day vary depending on nationality. In the British Isles, for example, goose was the traditional meal for Michaelmas, eaten for prosperity, France has waffles or Gaufres and the traditional fare in Scotland used to be St. Michael's Bannock (Struan Micheil) — a large, scone-like cake. In Italy, gnocchi is the traditional fare.

- "The world of pure spirits stretches between the divine nature and the world of human beings; because divine wisdom has ordained that the higher should look after the lower, angels execute the divine plan for human salvation: they are our guardians, who free us when hindered and help to bring us home." - St. Thomas Aquinas

- "The Lord will command his angels to take good care of you. They will lift you up in their hands. Then you won't trip over a stone." - Psalms 91, 11-12
